About the role

Our client is seeking experienced cardiology Registered Nurses to join a newly established, purpose-built Step-Down Cardiology and Day Stay Unit on a permanent full-time basis.

This is a unique opportunity to help shape the culture, clinical standards and day-to-day operations of a new specialist cardiac unit. You will provide high-quality care within an eight-bed monitored environment, working alongside experienced cardiologists, electrophysiologists and a dedicated multidisciplinary team.

The unit will care for complex cardiac patients requiring close haemodynamic and telemetry monitoring following advanced cardiac procedures and interventions.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Delivering safe, evidence-based and patient-centred care to monitored cardiology patients
• Monitoring and interpreting cardiac rhythms and responding appropriately to clinical deterioration
• Providing post-procedural care following electrophysiology studies and cardiac ablations
• Caring for patients following pacemaker and implantable cardioverter defibrillator insertions
• Supporting patients recovering from coronary angiography, percutaneous coronary intervention and other complex cardiac procedures
• Providing Stage 2 recovery care following angiography and cardiac interventions
• Administering medications and cardiac infusions in line with clinical guidelines
• Operating bedside cardiac monitoring equipment and telemetry systems
• Participating in multidisciplinary ward rounds, discharge planning and coordinated patient care
• Contributing to clinical governance, quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
• Helping establish effective workflows and clinical standards within the new unit

About You

To be considered for this opportunity, you will need:

• Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
• Recent experience within a cardiology nursing environment
• Experience caring for patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring
• Competency in cardiac rhythm interpretation and telemetry monitoring
• Acute care and post-procedural recovery nursing experience
• Experience within coronary care, electrophysiology or interventional cardiology settings is highly regarded
• Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills
• Excellent organisation, prioritisation and time-management abilities
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
• A commitment to evidence-based cardiac nursing and ongoing professional development
• A proactive approach and enthusiasm for helping establish a new specialist clinical unit
