About the role

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Registered Nurse or Registered Midwife to join the Special Care Nursery team.

You will provide safe, compassionate and individualised care to newborns and their families while working closely with the wider maternity and neonatal care teams.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating individualised care for newborns and their families
• Delivering high-quality nursing and midwifery care within a safe clinical environment
• Supporting parents and families to participate in care planning and decision-making
• Promoting clear and effective communication between patients, families and healthcare professionals
• Maintaining clinical standards in line with relevant policies and national healthcare requirements
• Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
• Providing support across other hospital wards when required

About You

To be considered for this opportunity, you will need:

• Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse or Registered Midwife
• A minimum of 2 years’ post-graduate experience within Neonatal Intensive Care, Special Care Nursery or newborn postnatal care
• Strong clinical assessment, decision-making and problem-solving skills
• A commitment to delivering excellent patient care and customer service
• Knowledge of and compliance with the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• The ability to work confidently both independently and as part of a team
• A compassionate and family-centred approach to neonatal care
